The local community of Farmington, CT will gather on Monday, May 27 to commemorate our local heroes at the annual Memorial Day Parade. Hosted at the heart of town, the parade honors and remembers the sacrifices of veterans, cementing our collective respect and admiration for our country’s servicemen and servicewomen.
The celebration will commence at 9:30 a.m. at the corner of New Britain Avenue and South Main Street, with the procession stepping off at 10 a.m. After coursing through several streets, the parade will culminate at Alice Clover Pinney Memorial Park, 173 School St., Unionville.
A distinctive feature of Farmington’s parade is the changing route each year. For instance, while the 2024 parade will traverse the Unionville section of Farmington, the 2025 event will march over a route incorporating Farmington’s Main Street.
Veterans, local bands, and organizations will participate in the memorial event, inviting veterans of all backgrounds to march. Those interested in participating, particularly local veterans, may contact Paul Krause (USMC) at 910-376-5454 or oifvet87@gmail.com.
As Farmington pays tribute to its veterans, all town offices and public schools will be closed on Monday, May 27, in observance of Memorial Day. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, May 28.
