A Legacy of Excellence

Superintendent Kathy Greer set the tone, describing Nguyen as a visionary leader and “an illuminator” who dedicated her career to fostering improvement, equity, and innovation. Under her guidance, Farmington Public Schools developed groundbreaking initiatives like the Vision of the Global Citizen and the district’s core beliefs, shaping a generation of empowered learners.

Colleagues from the Board of Education reflected on Nguyen’s humility, creativity, and unparalleled ability to listen deeply. “Kim’s work has made Farmington stronger,” one board member said. Others noted how her empathy and collaborative spirit transformed challenges into achievements, making her a role model for the educational community.

Tributes from the Heart

Among the standout moments:

  • Board Chair William Beckert commended Nguyen for her profound impact, calling her a “beacon of excellence.”
  • Fellow board members shared personal stories, illustrating Nguyen’s blend of professionalism, warmth, and a “sneaky-good sense of humor.”
  • A touching proclamation from the Board of Education detailed Nguyen’s many accomplishments, highlighting her ability to merge tradition with innovation.

Family and Community Roots

Nguyen was joined by her husband, Bob, and daughters, Chloe and Kelly, who are proud graduates of Farmington Public Schools. She spoke candidly about her commitment to giving her own family—and the district’s students—the stability and community she valued growing up.

Reflecting on her career, Nguyen attributed her success to Farmington’s ethos: “It’s about purpose and people. When you have a shared purpose, you can accomplish the extraordinary.”

Farmington’s Future Without Kim Nguyen

While the meeting marked a farewell, it’s far from the end of Nguyen’s influence. Both Superintendent Greer and board members expressed optimism that Nguyen’s visionary leadership would inspire future initiatives. As one board member put it, “Kim’s fingerprints are on everything that makes Farmington great.”
