Graduation Day Secured for Farmington High School: June 10, 2025
Farmington High School seniors, mark your calendars! At their December 9, 2024, meeting, the Farmington Board of Education unanimously approved June 10, 2025, as the official graduation date. With one snow day already impacting the calendar, this date ensures seniors can don their caps and gowns and families can plan celebrations without last-minute uncertainty. 🎉
The Snow Day Dilemma 🧊
What if the winter of 2025 delivers a blizzard bonanza? While the official graduation date won’t budge, the rest of the district’s students will still be required to make up any missed days in June. As Superintendent Kathy Greider explained during the meeting, the fixed date supports logistical needs for Project Graduation, the all-night event designed to keep graduates safe and engaged on their big day. Even if there are additional snow days, the district is committed to ensuring all seniors meet graduation requirements before June 10.
“We will do everything possible to support every student in fulfilling their requirements for graduation, no matter what Mother Nature brings,” Greider emphasized.
Why Fix the Date So Early?
Fixing the date allows Project Graduation organizers to lock in vendors and venues. In past years, graduation dates were adjusted to accommodate snow days, but this practice made coordination challenging for this essential event, which is beloved for its safe, substance-free fun.
Planning Ahead
Families of seniors can now confidently plan celebrations, travel, and other commitments. With Farmington’s ethos of tradition and innovation, this move ensures a smooth end-of-year transition for everyone.
