Farmington’s Construction Kickoff: “We’ll Be on Site Starting Monday” 🚧☕️

Farmington’s Building Project Update

A lively gathering convened at 4:34 p.m. to discuss the status of Farmington’s new municipal construction project. Right after the pledge of allegiance, committee members covered everything from meeting cancellations to vault certifications—all pointing to the imminent start of demolition work.

KBE Readies to Roll

We will be on site hopefully starting Monday. That’s the plan.” – Mark from KBE

The contractor announced it has finalized most of its subcontractor agreements. Mark continued:

We have a final walk-through tomorrow with Russ and the team and some of our major subs. We’re going to finalize trailer location as well as some other site logistics.

This signals the crew’s readiness to move trailers onto the site and commence tasks like making electrical systems safe, early demolition, and site preparation.

Recent Committee Discussions

Committee members also touched on other local projects. One member offered an update on the Farmington High School building work:

We met on January 15th and really just doing a lot of change orders and punch list items at this point. The construction on the building is 100% complete. Site work is 94% complete.

Although not directly tied to the new project, these milestones reflect Farmington’s broader progress in local infrastructure efforts.

Vault Certification in Progress

Silver Petrucelli, the design team, mentioned ongoing coordination with state officials:

We’ve also been in communication with the folks up at the state for the vault certification … It’s a multi-step process … They do come out and do an inspection after the vault and everything else is installed.

Ensuring security requirements are met is a key part of the project’s overall timeline. The next steps involve matching actual installations to the approved designs and obtaining final sign-offs from the state.

Finance & Next Steps

The finance subcommittee confirmed its most recent invoice approval process:

We met … reviewed the invoice that’s being presented today for Silver Petrucelli, but it was sort of just a general meeting …

With the budget holding steady, the construction crew remains optimistic about the projected completion date (targeted for January 2026, if not earlier). The next official project meeting was rescheduled to February 25, allowing time for early demolition and trailer setup.
