Why the Whalers Still Matter 🐋

Despite relocating to Carolina nearly three decades ago, the Whalers remain an enduring symbol of Hartford’s sports pride. Former owner Howard Baldwin attributes their legendary status to the fans:
“Here they are today, still an iconic brand because of you—the people.”

Hartford’s devotion to hockey is unwavering. Governor Ned Lamont, sporting a green Whalers jacket at the announcement, said:
“The Whalers are part of Connecticut’s DNA. Every day, we keep trying to bring them home.”

While the NHL’s return to Hartford remains a dream, these events underscore the team’s lasting impact on our community.
