Farmington High School Building Committee Pushes Forward with Key Approvals

FARMINGTON, CT – The Farmington High School Building Committee’s Financial Subcommittee held a virtual meeting on July 12, 2024, to discuss the latest updates and financial matters concerning the high school construction project. The session, open to the public via Zoom, tackled several important items to keep the project on track.

Minutes from the June Meeting Approved

The meeting kicked off with the committee approving the minutes from their June 14, 2024, meeting. This step ensures that the official records accurately reflect past discussions and decisions.

Green Light for Invoices

A significant part of the meeting focused on reviewing and approving a slew of invoices for work done on the new Farmington High School. Here’s a breakdown of what got approved:

  • TSKP Studio: $116,864.43 for their architectural work through June.
  • O&G Industries: $3,381,098.82 for their latest construction work.
  • Independent Materials Testing Labs, Inc.: $475.00 for materials testing.
  • Project Manager: $4,673.30 for their ongoing oversight.
  • Arcadis U.S., Inc.: $15,360.00 for project management services.
  • Vintage King Audio: $16,701.56 and $23,722.29 for audio equipment.
  • William B. Meyer, Inc.: $10,818.28 and $85,023.00 for moving services.
  • Environmental Systems Company: $176,086.00 for environmental services.
  • SHI International Corp: $56,476.40 for tech and software.
  • Atlas Technical Consultants LLC: $8,993.08 for technical consulting.
  • O&G Industries: Various adjustments for project changes.

Additionally, the committee approved $5,600 for TSKP Studio’s work related to the central office.

Keeping Tabs on the Budget

Next, the committee reviewed the Owner and Construction Manager Contingency Logs. These logs help keep the project’s finances in check, ensuring everything stays within budget.

New Service Proposals Get the Nod

Several new proposals from TSKP Studio were also approved, signaling further enhancements for the high school project. These included:

  • Improvements to Vehicular Access Gates: $3,190.00
  • Upgrades at the Monteith/Route 4 Intersection: $19,800.00
  • Review of Traffic and Queuing on the Upper Campus: $21,604.00
  • Building a Greenhouse and Storage Shed at Area C: $24,940.00
  • Constructing New Grandstands: $40,900.00

These additions show the committee’s commitment to creating a top-notch facility for students and staff.

Safe Chemical Transport Approved

In a move to ensure safety, the committee approved adding laboratory chemical packing, transport, and disposal to William B. Meyer’s contract. This service, not to exceed $10,500, covers the safe transfer of chemicals to the new school.
