Farmington Board of Education Selects Search Firm for New Superintendent
The search for Farmington’s next superintendent is officially underway. During a special meeting on March 3, 2025, the Board of Education appointed CABE Executive Search Services to lead the hiring process. The decision followed a competitive review of five proposals, three of which advanced to interviews before CABE emerged as the unanimous choice.
📺A Somber Start
Before the board moved into new business, members observed a moment of silence for two members of the Farmington community:
- Naziah Walton, a Class of 2024 graduate, was remembered as a beloved and accomplished student who made a lasting impact at Farmington High School.
- Mark DiBiaso, a former teacher at Irving A. Robbins Middle School and past Farmington Education Association (FEA) president, was honored for his contributions to the district.
“May his memory be a blessing,” the board chair said before the board paused in remembrance.
The Superintendent Search Process
Board member Andrea Cevitsky, chair of the Personnel Search Committee, presented a detailed timeline of the selection process:
- February 5: Request for Proposals (RFP) was issued.
- February 19: Five proposals were received.
- Last week: The three most qualified firms were interviewed.
- March 3: After deliberation, CABE Executive Search Services was selected.
Seven board members attended the Monday interview session and six participated on Thursday. Cevitsky noted that the selection was unanimous among those present.
Finalizing the Decision
At approximately 7:00 PM, the board entered an executive session to discuss the search firm selection in detail. Upon returning at 7:13 PM, a motion was made and unanimously approved to:
✅ Appoint CABE Executive Search Services to assist in the superintendent search.
✅ Authorize Andrea Cevitsky to negotiate and sign the contract.
Board members appreciated Cevitsky’s leadership and thanked all participants for their efforts.
What Happens Next?
With the search firm officially in place, the following steps will include:
🔹 Community input sessions to gather stakeholder feedback.
🔹 Screening of applications for the superintendent position.
🔹 Interviews with candidates in the coming months.
The board adjourned at 7:14 PM, wrapping up this crucial first step in selecting Farmington’s next educational leader.
