Part-Time Fitness Trainer Needed: Your Chance to Get Paid for Judging People’s Squats

FARMINGTON, CT—Ever dreamt of getting paid to tell people they’re doing push-ups wrong? The Town of Farmington has got you covered. The latest job posting is for a part-time fitness trainer who can bring enthusiasm, expertise, and a keen eye for detail to the Senior Center.

Job Overview

Title: Part-Time Fitness Trainer
Type: Part-Time
Salary: $23-$25/hr (because counting reps is hard work)
Posted Date: July 16, 2024
Deadline to Apply: August 2, 2024

Schedule

Ideal candidates will work two to three days a week, from 9 AM to 12 PM. If you’re a morning person who loves the smell of sweat and coffee in the morning, this job might be your calling. Flexible hours are available, but let’s face it, early birds get the worms—or in this case, the seniors who want to stay fit.

Certification Requirements

Applicants must maintain valid professional certifications from nationally recognized organizations such as NSCA, ACSM, NASM, ACE, and CPR/AED. In other words, please ensure you have the proper papers to prove you know your squats from your lunges.

Qualifications

  • Patience of a Saint: You’ll need it while interacting with older clients.
  • Communication Skills: Both verbal and written—because sometimes, you’ll need to explain why their “modified” exercise isn’t a thing.
  • Time Management: Juggling clients and schedules and ensuring everyone is doing the right thing at the right time.
  • Fitness Assessments: Because eyeballing isn’t enough.
  • Personalized Programs: Customization is vital; not everyone trains for the same senior games.
  • Special Population Needs: Recognizing and adapting to them.
  • Record Keeping: Attendance, client files, and schedules. If you’re organized, this part’s a breeze.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure the equipment is safe, clean, and functional. A broken treadmill doesn’t help anyone.
  • Feedback: Offer constructive criticism to the Senior Center Coordinator for an improved client experience.
  • Professional Development: Keep learning and growing. Just because you’re teaching others doesn’t mean you’re done learning.

Salary

Starting at a competitive rate of $23-$25/hr, this position offers a fair wage for those who can handle the responsibilities and bring a passion for fitness to the senior community.
