In a move that has left the entire town of Farmington on the edge of their seats (or perhaps, on the edge of their soon-to-be personalized bricks), the 1928 Building Committee, along with the Town of Farmington, has launched an epic “Buy a Brick” fundraiser. This initiative aims to raise funds for the Stephen A. Flis Scholarship, which is dedicated to Farmington students pursuing careers in public service. The bricks will be laid by the main entrance of the new Town Hall, ensuring your contribution becomes a cornerstone of Farmingtonâs future.
How to Get Your Name in Stone
Hereâs how you can etch your nameâor any other creative inscriptionâinto Farmingtonâs history:
- Choose Your Brick Size: Options include a modest 4â x 8â brick or a more substantial 8â x 8â brick.
- Craft Your Message: The 4â x 8â bricks accommodate up to 3 lines of text, while the 8â x 8â bricks can handle up to 6 lines. Both allow for 18 characters per line.
- Order Your Brick: Head to the online order form, preview your brick, and make it official!
Why Participate?
Why wouldnât you want to participate? Aside from the sheer joy of stepping on your own name every day, this fundraiser supports a noble cause. The Stephen A. Flis Scholarship helps local students committed to public service, honoring the legacy of Farmingtonâs long-serving town manager, Stephen A. Flis.
The 1928 Building Transformation
For those wondering what all this brick-buying fuss is about, hereâs the scoop: the 1928 Building, formerly part of Farmington High School, is being transformed into the new Town Hall. The project, set to wrap up in fall 2025, promises to breathe new life into this historic site, blending the old with the new in a $16 million venture that is, thankfully, still on budget.
Donât Miss Out!
Donât be that person who walks by the new Town Hall, sees all the engraved bricks, and thinks, âI should have done that.â Act now, be part of Farmingtonâs history, and support a good cause while youâre at it.
