High-Speed Chase: Farmington Man Arrested in New Hampshire
Farmington, CT has been thrust into the spotlight for an unusual reason. Zachary Dionne, 21, of Farmington, was captured by New Hampshire State Police after being clocked at nearly 160 miles per hour on Route 101. Dionne’s numerous charges include reckless driving and resisting arrest.
A Reckless Ride
On a routine Sunday, New Hampshire State Police received reports of a group of motorcycles operating dangerously on Route 101 eastbound near Raymond. The situation escalated when a state police airplane trooper identified the front motorcycles weaving in and out of traffic, a maneuver that endangered other motorists. The shocking speeds were confirmed when one motorcycle was clocked at 158 mph by the airborne trooper, while another radar on the ground captured speeds of 110 mph as the group approached Interstate 95.
Despite an initial attempt to stop the high-speed motorcycle group, the police on the ground could not engage safely, given the presence of a passenger on the back of the motorcycle.
A Tireless Pursuit
The airborne trooper resumed tracking the lead motorcycle, later identified as operated by Zachary Dionne, as it continued its reckless journey onto Route 107 and subsequently onto I-95 northbound. During this chase segment, speeds reached a staggering 144 mph, leaving other vehicles at significant risk.
The chase finally concluded when Dionne pulled into a gas station, marking the end of a dangerous pursuit. He was promptly arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including disobeying an officer, reckless driving, having an unregistered vehicle, making unsafe lane changes, resisting arrest, reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, and failing to display plates. Dionne remains in preventative detention and is due in court on Monday.
