Woman Arrested on New Britain Avenue—The Details You Need to Know

In the latest addition to Farmington’s rich tapestry of small-town drama, Farmington police arrested 58-year-old Judy Torres of Hartford, CT, on January 25, 2025, at 5:20 PM at the hallowed grounds of 1501 New Britain Avenue. The charges? A veritable buffet of bad decisions, including criminal trespass in the first degree, sixth-degree larceny, and illegal possession of a shoplifting device. And for that extra sprinkle of irony, she was also nabbed for the use of drug paraphernalia—an accessory no one wants to be listed next to their name.

Apparently ready to take her retail therapy a step too far, Torres managed to rack up a $5,000 non-surety bond. She’ll have her moment of legal glory during her court appearance scheduled for February 5, 2025.

Farmington PD added a note of gravitas, citing her arrest as being in connection with a shoplifting incident—because, after all, the phrase “innocent until proven guilty” isn’t just something you mutter on Law & Order reruns.

A Friendly Reminder from The Farmington Mercury

We’re nothing if not civic-minded here at The Farmington Mercury. Remember that everyone arrested is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. In other words, don’t go canceling Judy on Facebook just yet.
